Meerkat is a member of the mongoose family and it inhabits all part of the kalahari Desert in southern Africa. They have strong front claws for idgging and sharp pointed snout. They are brown with short stripes across their backs. The meerkat is carnivorious mostly eating spiders and insects and other small mammals. They live in large underground networks. Meerkat calls have been noted to cary speciic meaning, alerting other members to the approach of snakes, birds, or other predators.
